Who We Are

A message inviting you to discover our vision for global education, meaningful connections, and purpose

GIS – The International School of São Paulo is an international school that follows the IB (International Baccalaureate) curriculum and is part of the Group of International Schools Suisse, alongside campuses in Lugano (Switzerland) and Monza (Italy).

We combine academic excellence, humanistic education, and diverse cultural formation in a welcoming environment where connection, listening, and identity walk hand in hand.

With over 26 nationalities represented in our community, we promote an education that values critical thinking, intercultural dialogue, and the holistic development of each student — in intellectual, emotional, social, and ethical dimensions.

Our purpose is to prepare young people to act with autonomy, empathy, and global awareness, engaging responsibly with the world around them.

Our goal at GIS – The International School of São Paulo is to provide high-quality education with a forward-looking perspective in a caring and welcoming environment.

Through a child-centered, holistic, and inquiry-based approach, we encourage our students to develop the skills and attitudes needed to become independent and reach their full potential.

We value the individuality of each student and nurture empathy for people from diverse backgrounds.

We empower our students to become active members of their communities, contributing to making the world a better place.

Our Mission

Our Vision

As a community with an international mindset, we strive to develop responsible global citizens who:

1.Value every person and their perspective on life, thinking critically about their choices;

2. Cultivate the skills and traits needed for a constructive mindset: a love of learning and resilience to grow into the best version of themselves, recognizing that skills can be developed and improved;

3. Develop creative minds capable of solving problems with out-of-the-box thinking;

4. Build a strong sense of citizenship, where individuals take responsibility for their choices and understand how those choices affect themselves, their communities, and the planet;

5. Ver a educação como um processo dinâmico em uma sociedade em constante mudança.

Words that Connect Purpose and Vision

When GIS was envisioned, the goal was never to create just another school.

The mission was to build an international learning community rooted in humanistic values, committed to excellence, and respectful of childhood.

In this conversation, one of the founders of the Group of International Schools Suisse shares the vision that inspired the network, the principles that connect its campuses in Lugano, Monza, and São Paulo, and the school’s role today in shaping conscious, critical, and empathetic global citizens.

An intimate and inspiring reflection on what it means to educate in the 21st century — with purpose, meaningful relationships, and a global outlook.
