Child Centred Education
GIS SP - The International School of São Paulo educational experience for children from 3 to 6 years old is based on the image of a child with strong developmental potential.
A child learns and grows in relationship with others. The class is structured in order to give the children the possibility of having daily interaction with multiple materials, multiple languages and multiple points of view. The children are stimulated to be active with their hands, their minds and their hearts, so that they can express themselves creatively.
The curriculum is based on the guidelines of the Primary Years Programme (PYP) of the International Baccalaureate Organization and inspired by the Reggio Children approach. Its emphasis on different areas of personal development allows children to reach their full potential intellectually, emotionally and socially.
The Role of Play
Play is the universal language of childhood. It is through play that children understand each other and make sense of the world around them. Children learn so much from play. It teaches them social skills such as sharing, taking turns, self-discipline and tolerance of others. Children’s lives are enhanced by playing creatively and it is through play that children develop emotionally and intellectually. Learning through play lays the foundations for all the core building blocks of life.
